My observations of the trades as they fabricated the pool served me well in the construction of the pond, as the two are very similar. Suzanne and I both enjoyed the previous smaller fish pond we had in the patio, so our goal was to maximize the quantity of fish and the quality of their environment. Koi like to have areas to hide and deep areas to retreat to. Water circulation is vital to a healthy pond, so the design included six waterfalls and a river running behind the seating area.
