Design, Pool Concrete and Masonry The concrete and masonry phase of the project
was perhaps one of the most enjoyable. The patio really started to
take on an indication of it's final form. The concrete for the pond
floor and the eventual deck was done using bags of ready-mix concrete
(a lot of bags.) We mixed it in a portable electric mixer that would
mix two and a half bags at a time. The mortar for the bricks was
mixed the same way than poured in a wheelbarrow situated on the
pond floor. The coping and deck were custom made concrete bricks
and tiles. I had them made to be white in color (to stay cool in
the summer) with exposed aggregate (for aesthetics.)
