The guest house was there, it lacked only an
actual bedroom. The addition would be straight forward enough. Siding,
roofing and porch details could be matched. The challenge would be
to make the new interior space connect with the existing interior
space, yet offer a certain amount of privacy. Also, the new space
needed to offer enough comfort and function for a potential full-time
inhabitant. The bed was built into a dividing wall and included side
tables, shelving and lighting. On the other side of the wall is a
walk-in closet/dressing room. Resting on the wall is a transom cantilevered
over both spaces and housing up and down lighting. A new hickory
floor was installed throughout, and a new seating area was designed
and built for the existing side of the home.
